Sd.Kfz.251 is the formal number of a medium-sized armored personnel carrier developed in 1937 by German Hanomark, based on a 3-ton half-track in order to follow infantry to a tank unit. It is a new model with a simplified shape to reduce the production man-hours required to manufacture it; production began in May of that year. The Sd.Kfz.251.7 is a development of the Sd.Kfz.251/5, equipped with a small assault bridge on the outside of the fighting compartment, and the base chassis used was not only the Sd.Kfz.251, but all models.
