In architecture, a rotunda is a building on an oval or round plan, covered with a dome or a conical roof. Modern rotundas can also have a flat roof. This solid was already known to builders in antiquity. The most famous example of a rotunda is built in the 2nd century AD. Pantheon in Rome.
In the Baroque and Classicism, the rotunda appeared as a garden building or part of the palace – e.g. the rotunda in the Palace on the Water in azienki Park in Warsaw. The Panorama Racawicka building in Wrocaw is also an example of a rotunda.
