The M142 HIMARS (High Mobility Rocket System) is a self-propelled multiple rocket launcher developed in the 1990s. The U.S. Army began operating it in 2010. During Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022, a large number of them were provided to the Ukrainian Army, and their success attracted much attention. One of the U.S. Army’s medium-sized tactical vehicles, the six-wheeled 6×6 multipurpose heavy carrier is equipped with an MLRS/GMLRS multiple-rocket artillery system similar to the tracked M270MLRS.
