About the actual vehicle
The Stryker is the U.S. Army’s current armored vehicle with wheels.
It was developed based on the Piranha III developed in Switzerland.
Each of the eight tires is equipped with independent suspension, and the vehicle can be switched between 8-wheel drive and 4-wheel drive.
Equipped with a diesel engine that produces 350 hp, it has high driving performance, reaching speeds of 100 km/h on level surfaces and 60 km/h on uneven terrain.
In addition to the troop carrier type, a number of derivative types have been produced.
One of them is the M1128 Striker MGS (Mobile Gun System), a self-propelled artillery type for fire support.
The vehicle is equipped with a swivel turret with an M68A2 105mm cannon.
It was first deployed to troops in 2007, and it is being operated by the 2nd Cavalry Regiment stationed in Germany.
