This is an injection-plastic military vehicle model kit.
The T-62 was developed as the successor to the T-55. It first appeared at the 20th Anniversary Celebration Parade Against Germany held at Moscow’s Red Square in 1965. The bowl-shaped turret inherited from the T-55 is equipped with the world’s first smoothbore — a 55-caliber 115mm gun. It was more powerful than the 105mm rifle, which was used by main battle tanks of Western countries at the time. The turret had a shape close to a perfect circle, and it was cast integrally to the top of the tank. It was equipped with a V-55V four-stroke V-type twelve-cylinder liquid-cooled diesel engine; its maximum output was 580 horsepower, with a maximum speed of 50km/hour. It was used in the Soviet Union and other Eastern Bloc countries, and other places worldwide; total production of each type exceeds 9,000.
This model kit from Italeri includes the T-62’s characteristic turret shape, body form and details; in-vehicle machine guns and searchlights are fully reproduced in the turret. The details of the upper part of the hull are carefully modeled, such as the engine louver, and the tool case and spare fuel tank on the fender are included as separate parts. The lower part of the hull is a box-assembly type with separate parts for the bottom and side walls.
