The GAZ-66 is a 4×4-wheel-drive or 4×2-wheel-drive cab-over type of military truck developed at the Gorky Automobile Factory (Gorky Aftermavirinui Zavot = GAZ) in the Soviet Union in the 1960s. This vehicle is widely used in Soviet mechanized infantry units and artillery units, and has been developed into many derivative models by such factors as the presence or absence of winches and automatic air pressure adjustment systems, cargo type and shop van type used in the military, and other special vehicle types. In addition, it is exported not only to the Soviet Union, but also to many Eastern countries, including the Middle East and Africa, and is used by both the military and the private sector.
