German FAMO 18-Ton Half-Track Sd.Kfz.9

The Sd.Kfz.9 was an 18-ton towing capacity half-track used by the German Wehrmacht and Waffen-SS during World War II. Developed in 1936 as an army tank transporter, it was one of the largest half-tracks in the world. In addition to towing the 116-type trailer (Sd.Ah.116) for tank transport, it could also tow directly. However, it lacked sufficient power to directly tow heavy tanks from the mid-war period onward, requiring the use of more than three vehicles in tandem. As a result, more specialized armored recovery vehicles like the Bergepanther were developed for this role.
