Modelers and collectors have been delighted at Dragon releasing large-scale 1/6 models of subjects such as the famous 1/4-Ton 4×4 Truck, M4 Sherman tank and Panzer II. Now it’s time to rerelease the SAS 4×4 Desert Raider, a kit that bedazzles with all its intricate detail and pleasurable assembly. The Special Air Service (SAS) and Long-Range Desert Group (LRDG) of British forces widely used this kind of 4×4 vehicle in North Africa. This much-loved 1/6 model kit shows a vehicle heavily modified for desert operations by the SAS. It’s heavily loaded with jerry cans containing spare fuel and water to allow reconnaissance missions deep behind the frontlines. For operations in the hot climate, the front grill has been removed and a water condenser fitted. The SAS vehicle is also heavily armed with fast-firing Vickers K machine guns. Since this particular kit has been unavailable for a number of years, now is the perfect opportunity for fans to get hold of one before they disappear from shop shelves again.
