This is an injection-plastic military vehicle model kit.
Along with tanks, assault guns were Germany’s main armored combat vehicles in World War II. The III assault gun had been in use since the beginning of the war, and was the most-produced armored battle vehicle in Germany while undergoing various improvements. The Type III Assault Gun F/8 was an evolutionary version of the Type F equipped with a long-barreled 75mm gun, and used the chassis of the Type III tank J. Other improvements were added to the vehicle, and the armor was also strengthened. In October 1942, before winter, it was decided that all such vehicles should have the Winterkette treads with wide parts added to make it easier to navigate snowy conditions.
This model kit from Dragon reproduces the F/8 type of the III assault gun used by the German Army in World War II; 250 of this vehicle were said to have been produced from September to December 1942. The parts of the fighting compartment are specially produced to accurately reproduce the body shape of the F/8 type; they consist of several parts to reproduce the shape of the battle compartment roof. The battle room hatches can be built opened or closed; the main gun base seen inside the battle chamber when the hatches are open adds to the intrigue. The engine deck’s shape is slide-molded for accuracy, and photo-etched parts are included for the air intake cover. The suspension uses a Magic Track to give the Winterkette tracks, with their distinctive width, a realistic finish. Four German infantry figures are included as a bonus! Order yours today!
