This is an injection-plastic military vehicle model kit.
The German Army, which emphasized mobility in World War II, developed a number of wheeled armored vehicles; one of them was the Sd.Kfz.234. The body was equipped with an elaborate mechanism of eight-wheel drive, eight-wheel independent suspension and eight-wheel steering to aid it in running on rough roads. The engine wa a V-type 12-cylinder air-cooled diesel engine; its maximum speed was 80km/h. Various types were made, all with excellent running performance; among them was a vehicle equipped with a 2cm anti-aircraft Flak38 gun on an open-top body. Approximately 2,300 of each type of Sd.Kfz.234 were produced.
This model kit from Dragon reproduces the Sd.Kfz.234/3, equipped with a 2cm anti-aircraft Flak38 gun. Each of its eight tires consists of six sliced parts to accurately reproduce the tread pattern; wheels and wheel hubs are also separate parts. The drive shaft and tie rod parts on the underside of the chassis have been designed so that all eight wheels can be assembled with the steering turned in any direction. The unique body shape of the vehicle is accurately modeled, and the open-top interior is painstakingly detailed; the 2cm anti-aircraft Flak38 gun mounted in the fighting compartment is also very detailed, as is the 7.5cm KwK howitzer mounted on the open-top body.
