This is an injection-plastic military vehicle model kit.
During World War II, the German Army mounted a 75mm gun on the hull of the Panzer III in a low fixed battle compartment to create the III Assault Gun. Developed for the purpose of providing fire support for infantry, it was active in attacking enemy positions. It was become effective not only for positional attacks, but also in anti-tank combat to protect infantry from enemy tanks. One of the various types of the Assault Gun III used a 10.5cm assault howitzer as the main gun. A prototype vehicle was produced based on the E-type body, and then mass production was started using the F/8-type body by Alkett. A mass-produced prototype was sent to the Leningrad battle in November 1942, and its performance in its first battle was highly evaluated by the infantry. Approximately 200 of this vehicle were produced by the end of the war.
This model kit from Dragon reproduces the German World War II 10.5cm assault howitzer StuH.42 — a type based on the III assault gun F type. The battle compartment and its roof are dedicated parts in the upper part of the hull; it’s made of multiple parts to firmly reproduce its distinctive shape. The weld marks and bolts are delicately represented for a realistic finish; photo-etched parts are included for the front fender and cooling air intake grille. Magic Tracks are included too.
