Description
This is a die-cast metal and plastic military vehicle model.
This series is Tamiya’ s answer to the recent trends in the market toward finished models. Basically, these tank models are made from the plastic parts which made up Tamiya’s original MM series kit. Not only did they use these parts, Tamiya added some special features to the model. Lathed aluminum barrel and metal cast tracks and photo-etched mesh parts for engine grilles enhance the authenticity and reality of the finished models. Also as the new feature, finished tank commander figure is added. Painting and markings are beautifully done, of course; a light weathering finish is also applied to the models. Series #8 represents the specific vehicle of German Tiger I early production model. It belonged to the 8th. Co. of SS Das Reich Division which fought Kursk tank battle in Russia 1943. Tank commander was Sgt. Hans Soretz who scored the division’s 2000th enemy tank kill during this battle. His tank was well known by its distinctive markings, one is the jumping devil which taken from Russian folklore, the other is the Chinese character “Dao-Fu (Inverted Fu)” which means the fortune drops from the Heaven on you.
