The T-34 tank is undoubtedly one of the most famous armored vehicles of World War II and served as the mainstay of the Soviet Army during the war.
Key innovations introduced by the T-34 included sloped frontal armor for improved protection against hits and wide tracks ideal for excellent mobility across all terrains.
The first T-34s were equipped with a short-barreled 76mm gun, which gave them an immediate tactical advantage over the most common German tanks of the time, the Panzer III and Panzer IV.
In 1943, the T-34 was further improved with a completely new turret featuring thicker armor and the ability to mount a long-barreled 85mm gun.
The T-34 remained in service long after World War II, with over 120 T-34/85s deployed to the North Korean People’s Army by June 1950, contributing to the early stages of the Korean invasion.
