This is an injection-plastic military vehicle model kit.
After the Gulf of Tonkin Incident in 1964, the United States began full-scale military intervention, and the Vietnam War continued to intensify. The M48 Patton tank was highly trusted by American soldiers who fought on the front lines. The first tank to be called “Patton” was the M46, which was formalized in 1949; the name was inherited by the M47 in 1951, and then by the M48, which was developed and produced in 1952. The completely redesigned M48 features a new turret and an improved suspension. Starting with the M48A3 type, which was formalized in September 1963, the first diesel engine in American tanks was used. Its reliability was also improved, such as increasing its cruising power and suppressing fire when hit. The main gun was a 43-caliber 90mm M41 gun; the commander’s cupola was equipped with a 12.7mm heavy machine gun M2. This tank was introduced in Vietnam in May 1965; since then, more than 600 M48 tanks were deployed, and were active in supporting infantry until the end of the Vietnam War.
This model kit from Dragon comes with four figures of U.S. Marine Corps soldiers from the Vietnam War! They’re posed with great urgency as they retreat from the front lines while carrying an injured comrade. Combine them with the vehicle to create a realistic scene! The M48A3’s uniquely curved surface shape and cast surface have been meticulously reproduced, and the turret and hull are accurately modeled using a slide mold. The tracks use a resin material that is easy to paint with weathering, so scene production will be even more fun! The M48A3 searchlight parts that characterize the turret are also included, as is a full reproduction of the commander’s cupola with transparent parts for the telescope, road wheels made of multiple parts, sprocket wheels and suspension.
