0 Panther G Late Type
The first mass-produced type, the D-type, had many defects, and the A-type was introduced with a new transmission and improved turret, which were considered particularly problematic.
Type G was the next and last mass-produced type after Type A.
The armor structure was reviewed based on data from the Panther II, the development of which had been discontinued. The overhang is now installed under the main gun shield as a countermeasure.
In addition, some vehicles were equipped with the FG1250 infrared night vision system for night combat.
This device consisted of an infrared projector and a sighting telescope, and was mounted on the cupola.
It is said to have been able to detect targets up to 400 meters at night.
Vehicles equipped with the night vision device had the exhaust pipe replaced with a flame-extinguishing type.
