This is an injection-plastic military vehicle model kit.

GMU Models brings us the ZIS 5W Army Truck in a 1/48 scale. The ZIS-5 was a 4 x 2 Soviet truck which had begun production at the Moscow ZIS plant in 1933. Due to a lack of resources, the truck had been redesigned into the ZIS-5W. In order to keep the vehicle as simplified as possible, modifications such as replacing the cabin and side steps with wood, and eliminating front wheel brakes– some vehicles didn’t even have a right headlight or bumper installed! The production of the ZIS-5W began in 1942, and during the siege of Leningrad during the war, it played a major in transporting on the only supply route (known as “The road of life”) to Leningrad on the frozen Lake Ladoga. When fully assembled, the engine cover and doors can be opened to show detailing.
