The German Army developed, deployed and operated many vehicles during World War II, when the importance of military strength and troop mobility increased. They pursued running performance on rough terrain, and in addition to those with tracks, unique mechanisms such as all-wheel drive vehicles and half-track vehicles were put into practical use in rapid succession. One such vehicle was the four-wheel drive light armored vehicle Sd.Kfz.221 Funkwagen, developed based on the Horch 801. Derived models were the armored reconnaissance vehicle type Sd.Kfz.222 and the long-range radio-equipped Sd.Kfz.223. A 2cm KwK.30L/55 machine gun and MG34 machine gun are mounted on the turret equipped with a mesh cover.
