[About the bike
World War II was a battle in which mobility was a key factor.
Various troop transport vehicles were developed to ensure the mobility of infantrymen, and one of them was the well motorcycle.
It was developed as a leg for parachutists of paratroopers to move quickly after their descent.
The idea was to drop it with parachutists in airborne operations and use it after their descent.
The structure was designed to be foldable so that it could be dropped in a case.
The paratroopers would retrieve it at the drop site, assemble it, and use it.
The engine is an air-cooled 98cc Villiers.
The weight of the vehicle was only 32 kg.
More than 3,600 units were produced by the Exarciol Motor Company between 1942 and 1945.
It was used in many Allied invasions of the European continent, including the Normandy landings and Operation Market Garden, and served as the legs of soldiers.
About the Model
This plastic model assembly kit reproduces the Wellbike, a small motorcycle developed by the British Army in World War II and widely used in airborne operations.
The scale is 1/6.
The reproduction of every detail that can only be achieved in big scale cannot be overlooked.
The compact shape as well as the mechanism of each part is reproduced just like the real bike.
The handlebars can be folded even after completion.
In addition, the saddle height is adjustable.
The engine, which is sandwiched between the double cradle type frame, has been reproduced with each and every one of its cooling fins clearly represented.
The compact and efficient design is also understandable.
The front and rear tires are accurately modeled with tread patterns.
The delicate spoke holes are also represented to tighten up the footing of the car.
Of course, the steering wheel can be steered to the left or right.
The level of reproducibility that can only be achieved in big scale also brings to life the origins of the motorcycle developed for special missions.
