Description
This is an injection-plastic military vehicle model kit.
The Ferdinand (also known as Elefant) is a German heavy tank destroyer of World War II that demonstrated overwhelming power with a long-barreled 71-caliber 8.8cm gun, and heavy armor up to 200mm thick. Developed by Dr. Porsche for the Tiger tank, the body that was rejected in a competitive prototype with Henschel was newly equipped with a fixed battle compartment and equipped with a PaK43/2 71-caliber 8.8cm tank gun. It was also characterized by a drive system with a unique mechanism called an “engine power generation motor drive system.” From March to May 1943, 90 of this tank were produced using the hull prepared at the time of the competition prototype. It was immediately put into the Kursk battle that was held with the Soviet Union in July of that year, and amply demonstrated its power. Although it was plagued by obstacles due to its unique system and lack of mobility due to its weight, it continued to fight until the end of the war, including being dispatched to the defense of Berlin.
This model kit from Dragon provides a large fixed battle compartment at the rear of the hull, and a distinctive style with a long protruding 8.8cm gun barrel is reproduced. The unique shape of the lower part of the hull and the fighting room are accurately reproduced, and the suspension unit also firmly expresses the Porsche type’s unique form. The sprocket wheel, road wheel, and return roller are all firmly detailed; the track is an assembled type. Each track is three-dimensional and its details are realistic. The upper part of the hull reproduces the Elefant’s features such as the slit in the engine deck in great detail. The commander’s cupola and the hatches enhance the feeling of the battle room, too. Even at a small 1/72-scale, this model kit will have a strong presence in your collection — order yours today!
- [Size]: Approximately 11cm long when completed
