Description

This is an injection-plastic military vehicle model kit.

Cromwell chassis equipped with a 20-pound turret

The FV4101 Charioteer is a tank destroyer developed by the United Kingdom.
In the early 1950s, the British Army envisioned a plan to provide additional firepower to units of the Royal Armoured Corps by equipping existing tank chassis with a newly designed lightweight turret fitted with the Ordnance QF 20-pound gun.
Based on this concept, an interim vehicle was developed that removed the hull machine gun from the Cromwell chassis and mounted a new turret with a 20-pound gun, which was completed in 1952 and designated the FV4101.
A total of 442 units were converted from Cromwell tanks, of which 189 were sold abroad.
With the production and deployment of the Centurion well underway, contrary to initial plans, from 1953 onwards, the vehicles were only deployed and used by the British Territorial Army, which is a reserve force.
The period of use in the Territorial Army was also short, and from 1956, the vehicles were gradually withdrawn from service and sold to foreign countries, being equipped and operated in Austria, Finland, Jordan, and Lebanon.
