The queen conch is a large edible sea snail prized for its meat and one of the most valuable shells in the Caribbean. Unfortunately, it is vulnerable to overfishing and populations are declining. The Triton conch, also known as Tritons trumpet, is named after Triton, the son of the Greek sea god Poseidon, due to the fact that it can be used to make trumpet-like sounds.
