Reforger 88 was the largest exercise in the series’ history; its purpose was to change the single ground battles up to that point and learn to fight in multiple three-dimensional battles. Based on the idea of “air-land battle,” exercises were conducted by the V Corps and VII Corps. The number of soldiers from Germany, Canada, France, Denmark and the United States reached about 125,000. With more than 15,000 supporting vehicles, the M60 and Leopard 1 were introduced to the latest M1 Abrams and Leopard 2, and 631 helicopters, including attack helicopters, were added. This issue reports the Reforger 88 in detail, with numerous photographs and illustrations, including previously unpublished ones.
