This is a resin-cast figure or figure set for use with military dioramas or individual display.
Chernozem” means “black soil” in Russian, and is distributed in Eurasia from Ukraine to Siberia.
The black soil easily becomes muddy due to snowfall in early winter and melting snow in late winter, and the fact that the figures are in winter attire is thought to represent a time when the scaffolding is not so good.
This second set of figures depicts two soldiers sharing a cigarette between battles.
Both soldiers are wearing winter caps, and their overcoats are rolled up to make it easier to move in the mud, but they are wearing gaiters and boots on their feet and carrying two different weapons: a Moschin Nagan rifle and a DP-28 light machine gun.
